It's cliche to start an article about side characters with the quote about there being no such thing as small parts, but it's true. Some of my favorite characters in a movie can be the side people who just run through a scene only to disappear completely. So when I opened up the question of best side, or supporting characters with everyone, it was fascinating how that was defined. Some of these performances, you could argue, are straight up supporting performances. Others you might say are barely enough to be recognizable. Either way, these actors did something special, turning roles that could be forgettable into necessary components of the story.
