5 Topics I Didn't Cover in 2025
Some entertainment topics I didn't end up covering this year.
You’re probably asking, “Why is this paywalled?” Paid subscribers are the backbone of The Film Maven and becoming one shows support for independent journalism, as well as female- and disabled-created content.
Paid subscribers are the backbone of The Film Maven who support independent journalism, as well as female- and disabled-created content. Paid Film Mavens get access to two-three exclusive articles a week including access to my series The Trade and Popcorn Disabilities, as well as the ability to chat with me on The Film Maven's Discord server.
2025 marked a lot of firsts for The Film Maven. It marked the first year of the site pumping out full-time coverage. It marked the transition between the original site, Kristomania, to the new site you know now as The Film Maven. We also moved off Substack and onto Ghost. But all of that turned out for the best as the site has crafted a decent amount of followers (vacillating between 950-1000), got our first celeb interviews, and have even more planned in 2026.
When I started The Film Maven I worried I'd struggle to find things to write about. But, as the year progressed, there was A LOT of inspiration. So much so that I wasn't able to cover everything I wanted to. That being said, some of my favorite things I covered this year included the ableism in talking about Gene Hackman's death, how film bros are getting jobs at trades, this piece on entertainment journalists jumping ship, Wuthering Heights and the Emerald Fennell hate, talking to Bill Condon, discussing disability with Mary Bronstein, pointing out the ableism in Song Sung Blue, interviewing Josh O'Connor, and, most recently, eulogizing Rob Reiner.
