I knew at the beginning of this series who'd be the last woman at the end: Marilyn Monroe. Having just celebrated her centennial at the beginning of this month, Monroe has become a symbol for countless things over the years, from the glitz of Hollywood to its dark underbelly, for the peak of femininity to everything women rebel against. Biopics – more often than not directed by men – seek to show the "real" Marilyn Monroe. Hell, nearly every book and article, including this one, seeks to lift the veil and tell us who she truly was, nearly 65 years since she left this Earth.
