I don't often watch Netflix movies. The sheer amount of content, much of it not expertly curated to let me know what's new, often means I got overwhelmed by choice and just end up watching Gilmore Girls or something. But after hearing from several friends (and my little brother!) about how good Voicemails for Isabelle was I decided to take the leap. (I did have to physically search for it still.) And, what do you know? It's actually utterly joyous. It made me remember last month when I finally got the opportunity to watch the equally heartwarming and kooky Sheep Detectives on Prime Video.

What do they say about Hollywood and why isn't the industry looking to their success as proof we need more? So, let's look at what makes The Sheep Detectives and Voicemails for Isabelle work, and why Hollywood might want to start looking at them more closely.
