There's been a lot written about Taylor Swift this week. Everyone has opinions about her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, and media has deconstructed it from every angle: what it says about her relationship, what it says about sex, did she "lift" from other artists? It feels like, more than her last album, the discourse is loud and it's...not exactly positive. Many pundits have feelings about whether the latest album proves she's losing her shine or whether her pedestal is wavering in the wake of now bigger artists.

I'm not reinventing the wheel with today's post, but I did want to lay out some of my thoughts I've had over listening to the album for the last several days (and having "Elizabeth Taylor" run through my head on a loop) and urge everyone to give their own thoughts in the comments.
