Before You Leave Twitter...

Twitter's Exodus, Halloween, and Why I Didn't Worry, Darling

Before You Leave Twitter...

Before you panic, I’m not leaving Twitter. (Though, boy, do I wish I could sometimes.) No doubt you’ve heard everyone today either assert that they’re staying on the bird site or moving off it in the wake of Elon Musk taking over Twitter. For me, I dread what Twitter could inevitably become, but understand that A) it’s the most accessible and widest platform I have—at least until my Instagram or this newsletter blow up!—and B) I hate to let a bully win. So, I’m preparing to stay with the ship.

It’s Halloween week and when October started I had high hopes of doing 31 nights devoted to movies I’d never seen before and that…..didn’t work out in my favor. But I did discover two movies I absolutely loved and, initially, I didn’t think they could be more disparate: 2015’s Knock Knock and 2022’s Don’t Worry, Darling. Yep, I’m comparing Eli Roth’s ignored remake of Death Games to Olivia Wilde’s culturally maligned latest film.
